MONTAGE Music Society is a new Boston-based ensemble dedicated to combining a healthy mix of acknowledged masterpieces with exciting music of today. MONTAGE seeks to re-establish the ideals of the Society for Private Musical Performances, an organization founded in Vienna in 1918 to promote new works of music within the most nurturing environment possible. MONTAGE is dedicated to performing for all kinds of audiences, including home recitals, concert hall performances and events for underserved audiences. MONTAGE performers will discuss each work to be performed in place of printed program notes.
MONTAGE Music Society will present the North American premiere of Alexander Zemlinsky’s rediscovered cello sonata in a program of works by Zemlinsky and Schoenberg at the Library of Congress‚ Coolidge Auditorium, October 18, 2006. MONTAGE artists violinist Sarita Uranovsky, cellist Marc Moskovitz, and pianist Debra Ayers, will be joined by mezzo Janna Baty. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
